SEXUAL FETISHES

BONDAGE

Bondage High Heels:

Are considered to restrict movement and therefore perceived as a form of enslaving which some people find erotic. Often the very appearance of restriction is exciting to the fetishist. The impression of an ankle harness for instance can to the discerning eye appear as if the beautiful is enslaved. Immobile fantasies are a prime turn on for acrotomophiles. Tickling and tickling persuits is a form of power and dominence.

Bondage deals with tying people up (or being tied up). Or chaining them up, or restraining them with straps, or straightjackets, or ... well, you get the idea, no? In theory it can be enjoyed simply for its own sake -- the sensations and images of it. In fact, some people do enjoy bondage as bondage, without any interest in D&S or S&M, but far more people find it pushes their D&S buttons at the same time, or use it only for the D&S aspects, or combine it with D&S and/or S&M.

1.The state of one who is bound as a slave or serf.

2.A state of subjection to a force, power, or influence.

3.The practice of being physically restrained, as with cords or handcuffs, as a means of attaining sexual gratification.

4.Villeinage.

BDSM (Bondage Discipline SadoMasochism)

Bondage & Discipline, Dominance & Submission, S&M

BDSM is a convenient abbreviation for most of the interesting activities discussed in alt.sex.bondage. It's so convenient that it packs six initials into four letters:

B&D/D&S/S&M => BDSM. It's generally understood to include related activities/phenomena that don't fit strictly into any of those three catagories. An "umbrella term" like this is useful because so few actual (as opposed to theoretical) activities fit into only one catagory.

BDSM is a broad term that covers more activities than can be named, and there's a distinct difference between the medical meaning of Sadism and Masochism and SM community uses of these terms.  Master-slave play is consensual, with the submissive role pretending to want something they do not, and pretending as if they want to stop (usually a spanking). If one party no longer wishes to play, she or he utters a certain word, called a safeword, to stop the play. BDSMers are quite able to achieve orgasm in ordinary ways, but much of it involves the enjoyment of orgasm during "discipline" or "bondage". Not everyone is into DS or bondage (probably less than 50%), and an even smaller percentage are into long-term roleplaying, playacting, or the heavier aspects. There are public venues one can go to staffed by trained dungeon monitors. Enthusiasts often enjoy the wearing of special clothing. Leather garments, hoods, chains, restraints, paddles, whips, and other paraphernalia found in a discipline room or dudgeon add to a visual appeal since only a small percentage (about 5%) actually have garment fetishes. Sexual orientation can be varied: heterosexual, bisexual, homosexual, or "switch" roles. Researchers have failed to uncover any insights into what causes a BDSM interest, other than possible biological factors and ruling out childhood abuse.
